View Chinatown Files, a documentary exploring the legacy of the McCarthy Era and anti-Communist paranoia within the Chinese American community. As Chinese Americans acculurated and began to find their political voice during the 1950s, they were often inaccurately and unfairly linked to Communist China. Subject to harassment and intimidation by federal authorities, many of these otherwise politically active individuals were silent until the making of this groundbreaking 2001 film. For more information about the film, including a trailer, see the Chinatown Files website.
Discussion to follow film, moderated by CHSA Program Coordinator Leonard Shek. Co-sponsored by the American Friends Service Committee, in conjunction with "As They Saw It".
