Internship FAQs

We are currently accepting applications for the Spring 2021 semester. Click here for more info.

When is the application deadline?

We accept applications on a rolling basis. Positions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Early applications are encouraged.

Are CHSA internships be remote?

Yes. While the Covid-19 pandemic continues, we want to ensure everyone’s safety. Internships will be remote until further notice. On-site internships may be arranged if the need arises, provided safety measures are taken.

What are the schedules for internships?

Our scheduling is flexible depending on the availability of students. You will work with your supervisor to determine your schedule and hours.

Include a proposed internship schedule in your application packet. This should include the duration of the internship (start/end dates), hours available per week, and a tentative work schedule.

Please note: most CHSA staff members work Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.

We recommend that you intern for at least 9 weeks, 10 hours a week (total of 90 hours). Please consult your academic schedule when developing your tentative schedule and considering your start/end dates.

What are the eligibility requirements for internships?

Interns must be current or recently graduated students with legal eligibility to work in the United States. Applicants must complete the entire application to be considered.

What are the requirements of the CHSA internship program?

In addition to their assigned departmental project, each CHSA Intern will

  • Participate in 1 community program event
  • Assist with 1 educational program
  • Write 1 post for the Community Connections blog

Does CHSA accept international students as interns?

Yes, if they have a valid student visa. If there are any concerns, please contact your academic advisor.

Are CHSA internships paid?

No, but we offer academic credit. If you are interested in obtaining internship credit, please consult your academic advisor about internship requirements at your university.

Can I apply for more than one department?

Yes, if you feel like your skills can benefit multiple departments, please indicate so in your application packet and explain in your cover letter. We recommend you apply for no more than two departments at one time. Please be clear about which departments are you are applying for in your application.

How long does the application process take?

Approximately 3-4 weeks. If your application is accepted, you will be contacted by the Education and Programs coordinator to set-up an interview with the department head of the internship you applied for. After the interview, expect to receive a notification within 1-2 weeks. Delays may occur around holidays.

Can I reapply if my application was not successful?

No. Applicants may only apply once per semester. Applicants may reapply for the following semester with an updated resume and cover letter. We recommend you review your application before submission to ensure you have met all the requirements. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
