Chinatown’s Restaurants: From the Gold Rush to the Gilded Ghetto 1850-1950

Walking Tour of Chinatown Food History & Restaurants

Join Artist-in-Resident Charlie Chin on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 1 pm for a culinary tour through Chinatown’s history including stops at Far East, Kan’s Restaurant, Four Seas with photos of restaurant at Imperial Palace, Lou’s of Grant, and Cathay House.

Begin at CHSA and continue on with a jaunt down the meat & seafood markets of Stockton Street, as well as bakeries, produce vendors, and more!

This 90-minute excursion will bring food to life on the very streets of San Francisco’s gloried Chinatown!


The Walking Tour will begin at CHSA at 1 pm. $15 for CHSA members, $20 to the general public. Fee includes admission to the CHSA museum that day.
