CHSA invites you all to come to our book talk with the author of The Lost Torah of Shanghai Linda Frank, on Wednesday June 1st at 7pm. Seating is limited for this event. This presentation is sponsored by Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation.
The Lost Torah of Shanghai follows the adventures of Lily Kovner, the heroine of After The Auction. In the previous book, she goes on a quest to find an antique Seder plate stolen from her family from the Nazis and meets a Jewish-Chinese cousin named Ruth along the way.
This time she has a new quest at the urging of Ruth: to find a historic Iraqi Torah scroll that has gone missing from the home of a Chinese government official in Shanghai. Twenty-five hundred years of Jewish Diaspora underlie The Lost Torah of Shanghai, as Lily uncovers personal and political history that restores her spirit and self-confidence as a journalist-turned-accidental-sleuth.
Linda Frank is an author and businesswoman living in San Francisco. She has previously published business and travel articles in publications including The Asian Wall Street Journal and The Forward.
