Mayor Ed Lee Watch Party
May 26 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
For Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, join CHSA for one of our Mayor Ed Lee watch parties. The documentary film chronicles, documents, and preserves the memory of Ed Lee for future generations. Discover the life and character of this seemingly ordinary man, the son of working-class immigrants who grew up in Seattle’s public housing, became a San Francisco Chinatown lawyer, champion of civil rights and equal opportunity, and one of the first Chinese American mayors of a major U.S. city. The film contains stories and reflections from Lee’s daughter’s, mother and other family members, childhood pals, former mayor Willie Brown, current mayor London Breed, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, among others. RSVP today to honor the life of Mayor Ed Lee, whom Governor Gavin Newsom describes as “an extraordinary human being who wanted to do the right thing. Character. Decency. Honor. That’s his legacy.”
We will be streaming the documentary at various times throughout the last two weeks of May:
- Monday, May 18th, 3pm-4:30pm
- Thursday, May 21st, 5pm-6:30pm
- Tuesday, May 26th, 2pm-3:30pm
- Saturday, May 30th, 1:30pm-3pm
This documentary was produced by CHSA in partnership with Bay Area broadcaster and Emmy Award winner Rick Quan. The project has the blessing and active support of Mayor Lee’s family, to whom he was very devoted and was made possible thanks to the tremendous support of our GoFundMe donors and generous sponsors.
