From a landmark Julia Morgan designed building to an award-winning, LEED certified inner city college campus, Chinatown, rebuilt from the ashes of the 1906 fire and earthquake, is full of unexpected architectural treasures. Join architect Philip P. Choy to learn about the history of the neighborhood and some of its most significant sites and architecture. Choy also taught the first college level Chinese American history course in the nation at SF State. His recent “San Francisco Chinatown: A Guide to Its History and Architecture,” is the first of its kind – a comprehensive historic guide of the dynamic neighborhood.
