Chinese Historical Society of America - museum exterior at 965 Clay Street, San Francisco
The Chinese Historical Society of America Museum is situated in the heart of San Francisco’s Chinatown. Located in the historic Julia Morgan-designed Chinese YWCA building, the Museum introduces the rich history of the Chinese American experience. Hours

Wednesday-Sunday: 11 am-4 pm
Closed Monday–Tuesday, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, holidays

Museum Admission

Adults (ages 18-61): $15.00
Seniors (age 62 and over): $10.00
Students, grades 8-12 & College (with valid student ID): $10.00
Children, grades K-7 (with adult admission): Free*
CHSA Members: Free

*School groups are encouraged to reserve a tour in advance to ensure a quality trip to the museum for all visitors. Groups with children (K-7) without a reservation must abide by our 7:1 student to chaperone policy. For every one adult, seven children can enter for free; however, any additional children over the ratio will be charged the student rate.

We encourage the public to take advantage of the following programs to receive free museum admission:

Active military & family (with military ID, from Memorial Day to Labor Day): Free
We are a Blue Star Museum - free summer admission to active duty military members & their families.
California library card holders! Get free museum passes to CHSA at http://discoverandgo.org/
Discover and Go is a nationally recognized museum pass program that provides California library cardholders with free and discounted tickets to local museums and cultural institutions.

CHSA Members qualify for free museum admission and other membership benefits.

Our First Free Sunday program is on hiatus effective August 2017.

Tours

CHSA welcomes visitors to join one of our museum docent tours offered every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month. Limited to first 20 participants. Free with museum admission. Tours start at 11:15 a.m.

Tour Schedule

For group visits, advance notice is requested for docent tours and walking tours of San Francisco Chinatown. Please read our Group Visits, Field Trip FAQ pages or email info@chsa.org for more information.

Transportation

By Bus: Eastbound 1 California buses stop at Clay and Powell Streets. Westbound 1 California buses stop at Sacramento and Powell Streets. Both Northbound and Southbound 30 Stockton buses stop on Stockton between Sacramento and Clay Streets.

By Cable Car: Stop at the intersection of Clay and Powell Streets.

By Car: Parking is available at Portsmouth Square, on Kearny Street between Clay and Washington Streets, and St. Mary’s Square at Grant and California Streets

Parking

Chinatown Park and Ride, with $3 Parking available Saturday & Sunday, 9am-10pm

$3 weekend validated parking and free Chinatown shuttle, with validation from over 500 Chinatown merchants, including CHSA.  Minimum $3 purchase.
