Enhance your trip to San Francisco Chinatown with one of our educational programs. These programs provide an in-depth exploration of the Chinese Historical Society of America Museum, as well as utilize Chinatown as an educational learning space.
Listed below are the types of programming that we offer. All programs are about an hour long. (Programs can be modified and extended if desired; price would adjust accordingly).
Docent Tour: Groups would have the presence of a docent while they explore the museum’s gallery. Docent will provide an in-depth explanation of the artifacts found in the Chinese American Exclusion/Inclusion exhibition.
Walking Tour: Through storytelling and the engagement of senses, tour the crowded streets and alleys of San Francisco Chinatown with a knowledgeable guide. You’ll learn about the historic and cultural development of this community, the reasons behind Chinatown’s distinctive architecture, and the social significance of the neighborhood. Walking tours are available for groups 10 or more. If you’re not part of a group but would still like to participate in a walking tour, please call ahead at (415) 391-1188 x101 to request a drop-in walking tour.
Recommended group size for docent or walking tours is 20 people, but up to 30 people can be accommodated.
